Spirit gum can also be applied directly to the skin. Position the appliance in place, then gently remove and replace it a few times to help the spirit gum become tacky. Firmly hold the appliance in place until secure.\n\nFor a smoother blended look, use a small sponge to stipple a thin coat of liquid latex around the edges of the appliance. Allow it to dry before applying a second coat. Once dry, powder the latex with a colourless powder. The ears can be painted with makeup for a custom colour or more realistic finish.\n\nTo remove, use a small brush or cotton swab to work a small amount of adhesive remover under the edges of the appliance.
